Our Values

ETHICAL MANUFACTURING

Finding an ethical manufacturer was the biggest step in the making of The Wild Swim, and we are so grateful to be working with the loveliest and most talented team who help make our designs come to life.

It is absolutely vital that our swimwear is being manufactured with the highest quality fabrics, expert craftsmanship, and most importantly sweat-shop free.

We can confirm that our manufacturers are treated fairly and get paid well over the minimum wage, get paid 13 months’ salary a year, and they receive free medical insurance for them and their families.

SUSTAINABILITY

We are an Australian sustainable swimwear label and caring for the environment is extremely important to us. We have carefully implemented sustainability along every step in creating The Wild Swim.

ECO-FRIENDLY MATERIAL

All of our swimwear is made with recycled, eco-friendly fabrics. This fabric is imported from Italy, it is of the highest quality and has the most luxurious feel.

Solid coloured swimsuits are made with ECONYL®
Printed swimsuits are made with REPREVE®

Not all heroes wear capes. Some wear wetsuits. The legends at the Healthy Seas Initiative dive into the ocean and collect any discarded plastic bottles and nylon waste such as fishing nets, carpets and other fabric scraps. It is then regenerated into material and purified back to its original purity. This means that regenerated nylon has the exact same quality as virgin nylon. The only difference is it doesn’t cost the earth.

Then, we turn this into top quality, sexy, Australian sustainable swimwear.

PACKAGING

Inside your package alongside your Australian sustainable swimwear, you’ll be delighted to find a complimentary eco-friendly cotton drawstring bag in which you can store and carry your new bikinis!

These cute little bags are of course sustainable, and can be re-used over and over again.

MAILING BAGS

We ship all of our orders using 100% compostable mailing bags!

This means our mailing bags are made with corn starch, not plastic. Pretty much everything about them is eco-friendly. Even the ink they use comes from soy beans! The only parts of the bag that aren’t eco-friendly are the shipping label and seal, so be sure to remove these prior to disposing the bag.

Once you receive your order you can dispose of your mailing bag by either:

  • Putting it in your home compost bin – this method will take the bag up to 6 months to decompose.
  • Take it to a local compost bin or worm farm near you – where the bag will decompose even faster.
  • Simply tear up the bag and put it in your garden – this method takes longer but it will eventually decompose and turn into worm food!

DISPOSING OF YOUR SWIMWEAR

There will probably come a time when you will feel the need to spring clean your wardrobe and get rid of some clothes that are a few seasons old. Whatever you do, DO NOT throw your swimwear into the bin. If you do, it will go into landfill, and seeing as the bikinis originally started out as plastic waste, it will leave microplastics behind once it breaks down after hundreds of years.

The best ways to dispose of your swimwear are to:

  • Sell them as second hand items
  • Donate them to charity
  • Email us at hello@thewildswim.com. We will send it to the company that makes the material where they can regenerate it back into material once again – we are happy to cover the cost of shipping just to ensure your swimwear doesn’t end up in landfill.
